Computers
The purpose of the Design Curriculum in Computing is to create effective users of technology through the teaching of the design cycle. Utilizing multiple assignments, as well as project based learning, students will develop the skills required to be effective users of computer hardware and software. This work will provide students with the skills needed to word process, research, and complete a final product utilizing these skills. Throughout the curriculum, students will be given the opportunity to become inquires, independent thinkers, communicators, and risk takers. The experience of working through problems, finding solutions, and communicating results will better promote students becoming principled and open-minded citizens of a global community.
Project Lead The Way
Project-based learning promotes communication and collaboration by emphasizing a team approach. This approach utilizes the strengths of each student to accomplish goals that are challenging at various ability levels. Students will understand how solid modeling has influenced their lives as well as the world around them, how the design process can benefit the environment and how it can change elements of the world. This will allow students to use skills and develop an understanding of engineering principles as they plan and carry out their own designs. This course will encourage students to become knowledgeable risk-takers by learning through trial and error. They will become adept communicators and open-minded through their collaborations.
