At Thurston Woods Campus, families are encouraged to support their children’s education by being active participants. It is important to realize that the Thurston Woods Campus staff and families must work together to build a strong support network for children. Volunteering
1. Classroom Assistance
Parents and guardians are encouraged to come to Thurston Woods Campus and assist teachers in their classrooms. This allows children to combine support from home with support at school, making for positive results. Parents must make arrangements with the parent coordinator before coming to help in the classroom.
2. Field Trip Assistance
To ensure the safest learning experience for all students, teachers may enlist the use of volunteers to serve as chaperones on field trips. This is a valuable service for which the Thurston Woods Campus staff is very grateful. Parent volunteers are given established procedures to provide structure and accountability and to keep students safe when they are away from school.
Wednesday Folders
All students are given a Wednesday Folder when they enroll at Thurston Woods Campus. These folders go home with students every Wednesday. Inside these folders are the newsletters, flyers about upcoming events, and several important documents that may need to be signed. Parents are encouraged to look for this folder every Wednesday and ensure that all necessary paperwork is returned to the school or your child(ren)’s teacher or the office.
