History
Casimir Pulaski High School first opened its doors in 1933. The school was named after General Casimir Pulaski, a revered Polish general most famous for saving George Washington during the American Revolutionary War. Built during the rise of the Art Deco movement, the building has many unique decorative features. Pulaski currently serves over 900 students, grade 9-12. Our student body is diverse, with students representing over twenty different countries and twenty different languages from around the world.
Vision
We envision creating a rigorous, globally focused learning environment whereby students attain world class academic, cultural and career proficiencies, understand their unique talents and have the necessary skills to take their places as engaged citizens in our local, national and international societies.
MPS Mission Statement
Milwaukee Public Schools is a diverse district that welcomes all students, preparing them for success in higher education, post-educational opportunities, work and citizenship.
Note from the Principal
As the proud principal of Casimir Pulaski High School, I count it an honor to serve as the school leader. I am excited about the future for our students, especially with our newly acquired IB MYP authorization; now is the time to become a Pulaski Ram. In early Fall 2018, we will begin the work necessary to add the Diploma and Career Program to Pulaski, which will allow us to offer all students who attend Pulaski a full IB experience. Stay tuned for updates about our continued journey. The future that awaits our young scholars is filled with many opportunities to experience great success. There are a number of established programs that I am proud to highlight including Automotive, ESL, Project Lead the Way and Bilingual Education. We are expanding our extracurricular activities and clubs to promote student involvement in our school. I want all students, diverse in their perspectives, to be prepared to compete as global learners at both the local level and worldwide. Pulaski is one of the most diverse high schools in MPS with over 20 different dialects and ethnic groups from around the world represented. I am proud of our students and am committed to ensuring the growth and development of each and every one of them. I will continue to support “Every child, every day, in every way.”
Lolita Patrick, Principal
About the Principal
Lolita Patrick has been an employee of Milwaukee Public Schools for 24 years and currently serves as the proud principal of Casimir Pulaski High School. She was born and raised in Milwaukee.
Other positions she has held in the district include assistant principal, English teacher, track coach, and cheerleading coach. Some of the positions she held before coming to MPS include clerk stenographer in Probate and Child Support Court, computer operator for the Credit Bureau of Milwaukee, and real estate broker.
The main aspects of Principal Patrick’s work are to foster a vision of academic success for all students, create a climate and culture whereby learning can take place, build leadership capacity, improve instruction, and act as a servant leader.
One of the most satisfying parts of her work is seeing how students grow and develop throughout their high school career from the timid freshman who walks through the door on day one to the confident “ready to take on the world” senior who crosses the stage on the very last day of their high school career.
