Programs and Partnerships

In order for students to succeed at Milwaukee Parkside School for the Arts and as they go on to high school, support is needed from the surrounding community to enhance the teaching and learning in the classroom. The city of Milwaukee has shown incredible support, with many organizations coming forth to show their encouragement and genuine care for our children by forming partnerships with Milwaukee Parkside. These partnerships contribute to the well-rounded education that Milwaukee Parkside students receive and help them gain new perspectives.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

is a joint effort between Milwaukee Public Schools Office of Family Services and the Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association to effectively reduce classroom disruptions and student suspensions through a school-wide systematic tiered-intervention approach. Data shows that schools that implement PBIS with fidelity see decreases in disruptions and suspensions and increases in student achievement.

Girl Scouts

In Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. Through a myriad of enriching experiences, such as extraordinary field trips, sports skill-building clinics, community service projects, cultural exchanges, and environmental stewardship, girls grow courageous and strong. Girl Scouting helps girls develop their full individual potential; relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect; develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision-making; and contribute to the improvement of society through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others. Our troop is part of the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin – Southeast.

Junior Achievement of Wisconsin

We have a strong partnership with the Junior Achievement of Wisconsin program, which inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy. The mission of this program is to ensure that every child in the state has an opportunity to obtain an understanding of the free enterprise system. Lessons are organized according to the MPS Social Studies curriculum. The Junior Achievement curriculum is first implemented in K5 classrooms and continues through eighth grade.

Danceworks Mad Hot Rhythm (MHR)

Danceworks Mad Hot Rhythm (formerly Mad Hot Ballroom and Tap) is an educational dance program for schoolchildren in the Greater Milwaukee area targeting primarily very low-income schools in Milwaukee’s central city. MHR provides desperately needed arts programming directly in the schools, while building artistic, academic and social skills among students. MHR strives to empower youth to stay in school, gain self-confidence and reach their full potential through the transformative power of dance.

Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra – ACE Program

The MSO Arts in Community Education Program is nationally acclaimed and enhances students’ education through the integration of music and art into the school curriculum, accomplished through six ACE program components. ACE integrates music and arts into daily core subjects, giving students a comprehensive learning experience. It is nationally recognized as a model in arts education.

Milwaukee Art Museum Junior Docent Program

For more than thirty-five years, the Milwaukee Art Museum Junior Docent School Program has introduced elementary school students to the vocabulary, elements, and history of art while developing critical thinking skills. Over three consecutive years, students visit nine times, contextualizing art into their life. After a culminating project presented to their peers and family, they become official Junior Docents!

First Stage Children’s Theater

First Stage Children’s Theater‘s dynamic Theater in Education programs promote active learning in schools and community, serving over 20,000 children in classrooms and with community organizations each year. Milwaukee Parkside students participate in classroom workshops and attend play performances, both of which enrich literacy skills and enhance learning across the entire curriculum.

Milwaukee Ballet

Milwaukee Ballet’s Community Outreach programs promote confidence, a healthy lifestyle and creativity through performance and accessible, hands-on workshops. By introducing ballet to audiences of all ages, these programs bring the power of movement and dance to life and inspire the lives of the people they reach.
