PreCollege Enrichment Programs

November 3, 2022 by R. Drews

We wanted to take a moment and encourage each of you to consider Pre-College Programs for your child.

Most programs offer a collection of support and fun activities to enhance students’ High School experience and prepare them for college and careers.

The two “BIG” ones are Marquette Upward Bound and UW-Madison’s PEOPLE Program (Milwaukee branch).

These two are unique as four-year programs that coincide with a student’s entire High School journey.
They are very comprehensive in both support and engaging activities, including summer components.

(FYI… they will work around students’ other extra-curricular schedules)

Marquette opens the application in October and typically closes in February. The PEOPLE application window is typically January-February.

Some are open to 7th and 8th grade students, while others are recruiting current 8th graders.

Most programs are either free or have scholarships available.

Click here for a list of Pre-College Programs (and other enrichment options) which include links to direct websites:

We encourage any family interested in a program to apply.

Some programs use student grades, family income or family education level when deciding on applicants, but criteria can change based on the number of applicants.
