International Baccalaureate Program
Morse Middle School for the Gifted and Talented is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Candidate School transitioning towards offering an IB Curriculum and support system.
What is IB?
The IB Middle Years Program (MYP) aims to develop active learners and internationally minded young people who can empathize with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning.
The program empowers students to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.
What can it do for my child?
Research shows that students participating in the IB MYP:
- build confidence in managing their own learning
- learn by doing, connecting the classroom to the larger world
- outperform non-IB students in critical academic skills
- consistently have greater success in IB Diploma Programme examinations
- thrive in positive school cultures where they are engaged and motivated to excel
- develop an understanding of global challenges and a commitment to act as responsible citizens.
Honors Program
At Morse, we proudly offer Honors Classes where students are exposed to even more engaging, rigorous, and deep-diving content than in the rest of our Gifted and Talented Program! Our Honors Students are able to take unique and interesting classes such as Ethnic Studies and Pre-AP Springboard Math that will help them lead the next generation of thinkers and role models in Milwaukee and beyond.
Our honors classes are diverse, high achieving, and ensure that our students are able to complete Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Courses in high school. To become a member of our Honors Program, make sure your child’s 5th Grade Teacher fills out our recommendation form! For any help with this process, please contact Counselor Mr. Crossot at (414) 393-3627 or crossocm@milwaukee.k12.wi.us.
