The Milwaukee School Board developed the policy that all Milwaukee Public Schools have their own school councils. The purpose of the council is to work collaboratively to provide input on: the improvement of school policies, selection of curriculum, developing educational plan goals and enhancing general student well being. The Council’s decision making authority is advisory. The Council consists of at least 51% parents, and the rest is made up of the principal, staff members and a community representative. Representatives are elected in the spring.
