HOUR OF CODE
MacDowell didn’t just celebrate an hour of code, we celebrated a WEEK of code! Our fantastic librarian Ms. Raasch hosted over 700 students from December 2 through December 9, with students in Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, Middle School and High School learning introductory coding and exploring careers in Computer Science! Thank you to Ms. Raasch, teachers, and paraprofessionals for working with students to show them a future of STEM!
COVID TEST KITS: The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) has supplied at-home COVID-19 test kits for MPS students. Each MacDowell student will be given one test kit to take home tomorrow, 12/16. Each test kit box will contain two at-home tests and instructions on how to administer the tests. As trends have shown, the holiday season and the cold weather can sometimes cause an increase in COVID-19 cases. In order to help combat this, the intent is that these COVID-19 tests be sent home with students so that they are easily accessible should symptoms arise while at home.

HOLIDAY CHEER
Need a little holiday cheer? MacDowell’s high school students can take ornaments of of the Christmas tree or remove flames from the Hanukkah menorah, Kwanzaa kinara, or Diwali diya to lift the spirits of their classmates as we prepare for the end of the semester. Each ornament or flame has an encouraging or positive message that can be gifted to someone in need. Several student advisory groups participated in building the display and work to replenish the supply of positive messages!
