Reading Corner – Library Updates
Contact Ms. Raasch via email with any questions: RAASCHTL@milwaukee.k12.wi.us
MacDowell Montessori encourages all families to carve out time in their busy schedules to create a habit of reading aloud with children at home. Reading aloud, even for a short time (10-15 minutes) helps create positive experiences with reading, builds foundational literacy skills, and helps strengthen the adult-child bond. Allowing students to choose the books they read will add excitement and engagement.
Ms. Raasch LOVES to give book recommendations. Don’t hesitate to send her an email if you’re struggling to choose or find books to read together!
All parents are encouraged to take 10 minutes to watch this TED Talk that beautifully explains Why we should all be reading aloud to children | Rebecca Bellingham | TEDxYouth@BeaconStreet
