I.D.E.A.L. has a Mindfulness Mentors program that involves students from all grades! Middle school students that have shown strong leadership skills were nominated to be Mindfulness Mentors and go into primary and elementary classrooms every week. Every Wednesday, the Mindfulness Mentors meet with Ms. Orszula, the school psychologist, to learn a new mindfulness strategy, and on Fridays, the mentors go into the primary and elementary rooms to teach the new mindfulness strategy to the younger students. It is wonderful to see the mentors use their leadership skills and how engaged the primary and elementary classes are! Through the use of these strategies, students may be able to better manage intense emotions, increase focus, and practice self-control!
