Honey Creek, staff members realize that families play a vital role in education. Parents are encouraged to collaborate with teachers to decide upon an appropriate time to visit their child’s classroom and share their personal experiences. In an effort to keep the lines of communication open, reports are sent home to parents and conferences are scheduled regarding each student’s progress. Staff also honors parental requests for additional conferences, meetings or reports at any time necessary. Every effort is made to include the input of parents and family members when developing individual educational and behavioral plans for Honey Creek students.
The Parent Activity Committee and Shared Governance Board are forums for parents to take an active role in the decision making process at Honey Creek, the development of the school’s Educational Plan and the planning of family-oriented social and educational activities. Parents and family members are invited to all activities that showcase student talents and recognize student accomplishments. They are also welcome and encouraged to share any of their talents and/or knowledge with Honey Creek students.
Wisconsin’s Information Network for Successful Schools (WINSS) is a resource for educators, parents, and community members. WINSS provides information on what we want our children to know and be able to do; how children are performing each year; and how our schools are staffed and funded. WINSS Website

Shared Governance Board/Council
The School Engagement Council (SEC) (formerly SGB), comprised of parents and staff, is the governing body of Honey Creek. Representatives of the SEC make decisions regarding instructional refinement, student achievement, and other educational issues. The SEC also monitors the School Educational Plan and serves as a strong communicator among the school community.
Meetings are scheduled for the first Friday of each month in the school library at 7:05 a.m. To ensure input is taken into consideration, please visit the school office and complete a “Request for School Engagement Council Meeting Agenda Items” form. Representatives are elected yearly.
Parent Activity Committee
Honey Creek has a strong Parent Activity Committee (P.A.C.), dedicated to continually improving the school. Striving to accomplish their mission of “fun and fundraisers,” the P.A.C. is composed of parents, staff and community members working together to build positive communication among home, school and the community. At their monthly meetings, the P.A.C. provides an opportunity for parents to be involved in planning activities and supporting educational programming at Honey Creek. The P.A.C. sponsors various fundraisers to help raise money for new school equipment, enrichment programs, holiday treats, field trips and to sponsor the CP 5 and K5 Completion Program. They also plan many self-esteem building activities for children and assist staff members by volunteering. P.A.C. membership is open throughout the year. Parents are encouraged to show their support by joining and volunteering at Honey Creek. Help is greatly appreciated by staff and students!

Red Homework/Communication Folders
Each Honey Creek student receives a red communication folder at the beginning of the school year and in January. Students are expected to carry the folder to school and home each day. Parents are reminded to check these folders daily for important notes and to relay information (i.e. permission slips, excuses for absences, responses for volunteering, etc.) back to Honey Creek by placing it in the folders. The red folders are also used to carry students’ homework assignments. Parents are encouraged to monitor their child’s homework and help ensure that it is satisfactorily completed. The red folders have proven successful in the past, as they help parents stay aware of current happenings at Honey Creek and ensure that the lines of communication between families and staff are kept open.
Parent Concerns
Honey Creek’s school philosophy places parental concerns high on the priority list. When parents have questions about the educational welfare of their children or about their role in the educational process, they should contact the school. The principal has an open door office policy and is ready to listen and advise when necessary. Contact the principal here.
Parent Portal
The Parent Portal is a valuable tool for parents. You can view your child’s progress in school, their grades, their demographic information, transportation information and many other things. You can request change to your child’s transportation on the parent portal. To sign up for the parent portal just visit the school office and talk to the secretaries.
