Golda Meir School offers a Gifted and Talented Program designed for a diverse urban student population. Our test scores reflect results that could only be achieved by students motivated by an exciting, interdisciplinary curriculum and supported by caring parents.
Extended field trip opportunities currently include destinations like Chicago, Minneapolis, the Grand Canyon, New York, and Northern Wisconsin. Our downtown location allows for regular visits to First Stage Children’s Theater, Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee Public Museum, Central Library, and numerous other downtown attractions.
Golda Meir School provides a third through fifth grade lower school program and a sixth through twelfth grade upper school program.
Middle school teachers continue the Golda Meir tradition of high level literacy and mathematics, with extended lab opportunities in science and extensive research experience in social studies. Community service, foreign language studies, and arts education are integrated into the program as well.
The Golda Meir staff creates a stimulating environment where the potential of every student is discovered and rewarded. As one of Milwaukee’s original magnet schools, our urban gifted and talented program represents 40 years of high academic standards and an engaging curriculum for a culturally diverse population.
The mission of Golda Meir School is to create an educational program and learning environment that is intellectually inspiring, emotionally compelling, aesthetically enriching and personally relevant; an environment where learners connect experiences and construct meaning through active participation in the learning process.
The vision of Golda Meir School is to ensure that all student learners are prepared for excellence in higher education. Our intellectual environment will empower learners to be critical thinkers and successful leaders committed to participating in a diverse and evolving global Society.
Golda Meir School received the DPI “New Wisconsin Promise School of Recognition Award” in 2004 for having exemplary student academic performance in reading and mathematics.
In 2007, the school was additionally honored to receive a No Child Left Behind National Blue Ribbon Award. Golda Meir was one of only 287 K-12 schools, public and private, to receive this honor.
