Camp Fernwood 2022-2023 Program

Camp Fernwood offers 2 separate childcare services depending on the age group of the student. Students that attend K3 & K4 are eligible for Fernwood’s Wrap Around Care Service that starts at 10:20AM and runs until the end of the school day at 2:20PM, Monday through Friday. Children are able to bring a cold lunch or utilize the hot lunch option that is available daily. Scheduled bathroom breaks, quite time/nap time, and structured activities, crafts, and games are all planned and try to adhere to Montessori curriculum.

Children enrolled in K5 through 6^th grade attend our After School Care Services that run from 2:20PM until 5:30PM, Monday through Friday. A snack is provided to all students after school, or they are allowed to bring one from home. Weather permitting, we allow children to play outside supervised or create craft projects, work on homework, or play with one of our many new games, puzzles, or toys such as tabletop tennis, large dominoes, etc. If the gym is free, groups will rotate in and out where students can run, play group games, or enjoy some time with friends.

All staff is trained through MPS REC and meet state accreditation in childcare and is CPR certified. Staff to student ratios adheres to the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families.”

Effective September 1, 2022 camp fees have increased to reflect program and operating expenses:

$7.00 an hour for students ages 6-12
$8.00 an hour for students ages 3-5

As of 10/31/22 we are still unable to take children off our current waitlist, due to staffing shortages. We know this is a vital resource for our families and thank you for your patience.

Wisconsin Shares Child Care Subsidy authorizations are accepted. For more information about Wisconsin Shares, parents can visit the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, Milwaukee Early Care Administration website. From there, click on “For Families” to learn how to apply and see eligibility requirements for the program.
