Fernwood Upcoming Music Events
(Click on the link for additional events)
December 9
The Upper Elementary Choir will perform for the Christmas on KK tree lighting ceremony at Zillman Park (2168 S Kinnickinnic Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53207). Performers should arrive at 4:45pm and singing will be 5:15pm-5:30pm. Please dress for outside weather. Get into the holiday spirit with music and support our local businesses. There will be a charity raffle for the Bay View Community Center, who make special community events like this possible. If you are interested in volunteering for the event please sign up here: Fernwood Music Parent Volunteer Spreadsheet.
December 13
Mark your calendars! Fernwood Montessori will put on a winter concert at Bay View High School (2751 S Lenox St, Milwaukee, WI 53207)! The performance will include all lower elementary classes, the lower elementary choir, 3rd grade recorder group, the upper elementary choir, the adolescent choir, and the adolescent rock bands. Students should arrive at 4:30pm as we will plan to do a quick run-through before the show. Doors open at 5pm and the show begins at 5:30pm. Due to capacity limitations of the facility, we kindly ask that families try to limit the number of attendees to 3 per family. This will ensure that performing students have the opportunity to watch their classmates at the concert. We will have over 300 students performing. We are looking for two parent volunteers per lower elementary classroom. If you are interested in helping out, please sign up here: Fernwood Music Parent Volunteer Spreadsheet.
December 14
The Lower Elementary Kids Choir will be spreading Holiday cheer with a Mini-Concert outside in Fernwood’s outdoor amphitheater (just to the left of the main doors, by the greenhouse). Students will share their music from 3:00-3:15pm. There will be warm beverages and goodies to purchase. All proceeds will go directly back to support Fernwood students. (Rain location – inside the auditorium). Anyone is welcome to this event!
Lost and Found at Fernwood
Fernwood’s lost and found area is located on the ground floor, next to the cafeteria, under stairwell one. It is bursting at the seams with lost items. If your student is missing items, please check it out. Items labeled with names are delivered back to students in their classroom. Please label your student’s items. Items from the lost and found will be donated on Wednesday, November 30th.
Fernwood’s Department of Public Instruction Report Card (2021-22)
Each year the Department of Public Instruction creates report cards for state school districts and schools. This year Fernwood Montessori received a score of 77.9 which falls into the category of “Exceeds Expectations.” This score is 1.5 points higher than our previous year’s score. K5 Students Decorate a Holiday Tree
Fernwood’s K5 students created beautiful ornaments to decorate a tree in Cathedral Square Park. Students spent the afternoon of November 16th decorating their tree. This year’s theme is Milagros (miracles). Students created ornaments sharing their personal miracles. There are over 140 trees in the park decorated by area schools. Stop by and check them out! Thank you to our art teacher, Ms. Makula-Zimmerman, for her work in creating the ornaments with students. Thank you also to our 8th grade students who helped out with last minute ribbon tying.
