Anodyne Coffee Sale 2022
The Fernwood PTO is excited to announce the return of our Anodyne Coffee sale.
This is our PTO’s largest fundraiser of the year. Participation in this event allows our PTO to continue to offer financial support to all of our classrooms and teachers.
Thank you to Anodyne for their generous support of Fernwood. A large percentage of each purchase goes straight back into our classrooms.
~Select whole bean (WB) or ground (GR) for each coffee ordered.
~Submit your order form with payment to the Fernwood office by November 30th.
~Submit only one check with each order. Checks should be made out to Fernwood Montessori.
~Items will be delivered to students in their classrooms before Winter Break.
~Please include the student name and room number on the order form.
~Additional order forms are available in the school office and on the Fernwood website.
Before School Care/Morning Drop Off
The school building opens at 6:45 for families who signed up for before-school camp only. Those families were communicated with at the beginning of the year, and filled out appropriate paperwork. Due to supervision, we cannot accommodate more students being dropped off before breakfast.
Breakfast begins at 7:05am and all children may enter the building at this time if they’d like to eat breakfast. To come in the building for breakfast, please ring the doorbell at the glass doors or door 2 on the East playground. Our secretary, Ms. Cynthia, will buzz you in. Students should go directly to the cafeteria for breakfast.
Thank You Lion’s Tooth
Thank you to Lion’s Tooth book store for hosting a Fernwood Montessori fundraiser. Over $300 was raised to support our PTO. Thank you to all the families who participated.
Fernwood Ski/Snowboard Club
Fernwood is excited to have ski/snow board club return! Ski club will meet 4 times throughout the winter at Little Switzerland in Slinger (approx 40 minutes from Bay View). Each participant will receive a loyalty card, which gives discounted lift tickets and rentals for the remainder of the season to use on your own (REALLY good discounts!).
Parents, friends and siblings can be part of the ski club too. Ski club needs a minimum of 30 people registered. Open to all levels – I am a novice and still enjoy it! Benefit of ski club: greatly reduces the cost for families and provides a support group of built-in school/friend community to the children and families while at the ski hill.
The cost of the club varies depending on what you need (it is set up a la cart to make sure people pay for only what they need).
The dates Fernwood Montessori Ski Club will meet are:
- Thursday, December 15th
- Thursday, January 5th
- Thursday, January 19th
- Thursday, February 2nd
Make-up date (only to be used as a whole group in case of rain or severe temperatures): Thursday, February 9th
New this year…Little Switz will be offering FREE group beginner terrain based lessons with the purchase of the lift ticket package. These lessons are great for new students or returning students who have not confidently mastered our beginner area last season. These lessons are self paced using a station based learning area progressing up the beginner hill, some students may finish before the four weeks depending on their skills. They may free ski or snowboard using their rental equipment and ticket. Little Switzerland does not teach the chair lift in group lessons.
Little Switzerland will not be offering Beyond the Basic lessons this season, students looking for more instruction are encouraged to sign up on our website for private lessons.
Official sign-up link will close on November 21st.
Check out Little Switzerland at www.littleswitz.com.
We also have a Facebook group – Fernwood Snowboard and Ski Club
Any questions can be directed to Molly Pufall-Brown (mpufall@gmail.com)
(This club is not part of the after school clubs supported by ESSER Funds. The one club per season limit does not apply to this group.)

Fernwood Mural at the Holiday Folk Fair
Come look at what these students made not just to represent our school, but our district. It’s incredible!!
Please come to the Holiday Folk Fair to see Fernwood’s beautiful mural, titled “Growing Towards the Light” on display Nov. 18-20th. Fernwood is 1 of 12 MPS schools that painted a mural for this event. Thank you to the many AD students who contributed to its creation, as well as Mr. Ray and Ms. Ophelia for your support. Special thanks to the mural crew: Mabel Steffek, Mia Brouchoud, Secilia Garcia, Kianalyz Beauchamp, Eli Mendoza, Lily Buendia, Rosemary Zacaula, Ixi Roland and Amiah Kish.
Mural Title: “Growing Towards the Light”
Mural Description: Our mural represents the national flowers of several different countries. We–all of humanity–have all been through a lot in the past several years. No matter what country you are from, when we grow towards the light (and have placed darkness behind us) we all thrive. Humanity is yearning for a future that holds: peace, freedom, joy, abundance, love, and light for all.

This event is hosted by HYFIN (Radio Milwaukee 88.9FM) in conjunction with MKE Black and MPAC and will take place in the Bradley Pavilion of the Marcus Center. The market will give patrons the opportunity to support a diverse group of makers, artists, creatives, and producers and, as part of “Small Business Saturday” keep the money spent in the community.
Attendees will not only enjoy browsing and shopping among 40+ Black-owned businesses, but will also be treated to a visit from Santa and music curated by Milwaukee DJs.
