January 2025 Newsletter

Hello Fairview Families,

Happy New Year!  Unfortunately, (or fortunately if you are not a snow fan 🙂) we are still waiting for the first measurable snow of the season.  Snow brings extra excitement for our students during recess as we bring out the sleds.  Pure joy!  With winter finally here, please be sure to send your littles dressed for the winter.  Winter hats, gloves and boots are a must.

School Engagement Meeting (Virtual) – Thursday, January 16th at 5:30pm – Interested in learning more about Fairview’s 2025-2026 school budget?  This forum is open to the Fairview community consisting of parents, teachers, and community members in providing continued analysis of our school budget.  If you have an interest, click here on Thursday, January 16th at 5:30pm.

Bingo Night – Friday, January 31 – Get your Bingo daubers ready!  This family fun event is a sure hit within the Fairview community.  Snacks (Cash Event Only), prizes and fun will be taking place in the Fairview gymnasium.  Doors open at 5:00pm with the first Bingo call at 5:30pm and the last bingo call at 8:00pm.  Hope to see you there!

Fairview 8th Grade Student Wins Prestigious Art Award – Congratulations to 8th grader, Htoo T Bia Paw for being named the Gold Key Winner in an art contest sponsored by the Milwaukee Art Museum.  Htoo will be recognized on February 8th and her art piece will be exhibited at the Milwaukee Art Museum through March.  Way to go, Htoo!

Hunger Task Force and Fairview School –  The Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee reached out to thank the Fairview community for donating over 872 pounds of donated food.  Thank you for your support as it helped provide a local safety net of nutritious food for families, children and seniors facing hunger in Milwaukee.  Congratulations to Mrs. Warren’s kindergarten class in taking home the honors of collecting the most goods.  The class earned a well-deserved pizza party prior to winter break.  Kudos to Ms. Roman and Fairview’s National Junior Honor Society for all of their hard work in the organization and collections.

Interim Reports – Tuesday, February 11 – K5-8th grade students will be receiving their interim reports for the 2nd trimester on Tuesday, February 11.  This report is a snapshot of your child’s content areas and how they are progressing thus far during Trimester 2. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

Winter STAR Assessment – STAR is a computer-adaptive district assessment used to screen students three times per year in the areas of early literacy, reading, and math.  Students will be completing their winter STAR assessment over the next two weeks.  Have your child(ren) get plenty of rest and have them eat a nutritious breakfast.  These assessments help us better serve our students in the areas of reading and math.

Kindergarten Enrollment – Do you know of any K4 or K5 students looking to join the Fairview community?   Starting February 1, 2025, parents will have the opportunity to enroll.  Want to know more about Fairview School?  Check out the Kindergarten Enrollment Fair at South Division High School on Saturday, February 1st from 9:00am – 12:00pm. Kindergarten Enrollment
