Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

PBIS is a joint effort between Milwaukee Public Schools Office of Family Services and the Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association to effectively reduce classroom disruptions and student suspensions through a school-wide systematic tiered-intervention approach. Data shows that schools that implement PBIS with fidelity see decreases in disruptions and suspensions and increases in student achievement.

Compost Crusader

In addition to the benefits of reducing school waste, composting provides great educational opportunities for students at any grade level. Compost Crusader is dedicated to helping schools reduce food waste and help kids learn about the role they play. In addition to offering our compost collection program we also offer compost fundraisers to help complete the cycle and offset the costs associated with the compost collection program. It’s all part of the cycle!

Junior Achievement of Wisconsin

We have a strong partnership with the Junior Achievement of Wisconsin program, which inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy. The mission of this program is to ensure that every child in the state has an opportunity to obtain an understanding of the free enterprise system. Lessons are organized according to the MPS Social Studies curriculum. The Junior Achievement curriculum is first implemented in K5 classrooms and continues through eighth grade.

Mad Hot Ballroom

Danceworks Mad Hot Ballroom and Tap (MHBT) is an educational dance program for schoolchildren in the Greater Milwaukee area targeting primarily very low-income schools in Milwaukee’s central city. MHBT provides desperately needed arts programming directly in the schools, while building artistic, academic and social skills among students. MHBT strives to empower youth to stay in school, gain self-confidence and reach their full potential through the transformative power of dance.
