Dear Clement Avenue School families,
Welcome back to the 2022-2023 school year. A new school year will begin soon, and we are thrilled to be welcoming you! Mr. Allen, our school Engineer has been working non-stop to prepare our building for staff and students. Our staff has been planning, preparing, and training throughout the summer in order to make this the best school year.
As you know we are still dealing with pandemic issues and safety is our top priority. The district will continue to require masks to be worn at all schools, sites, and activities when the community level in Milwaukee County is rated in the High category as determined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If mask wearing becomes optional, notifications will be on the MPS website. As always, our district recommends the following:
- If your child is 12 or older, please consider getting them vaccinated.
- All students will be required to wear masks, when recommended by the CDC, while they are indoors (including buses) but will not be required to wear them outside.
- Classrooms and common areas will have HEPA filters.
- High-contact areas will be cleaned regularly.
- Regular hand washing and hand sanitizing.
We will start our year with an Open House on August 31, 2022.We invite all families to join the staff on Wednesday, from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM.
5:00 – 6:00 Families will report to the gymnasium for a kick-off meeting which will include:
Title I information, school systems overview, and staff introductions.
6:00 Staff will escort families to their child’s classroom and review expectations for a successful school year.
*For families who are unable to make the event, in-person, we will provide necessary information on our weekly Parent Newsletter.
We will have Camp Clement this year, and it will begin on the students’ first day of school (September 6, 2022). Ms. Jonas will attend our Open House on August 31, 2022, to answer any questions; as well, she will collect applications and deposits for camp. All outstanding bills must be paid for applications to be accepted.
If you know of families looking for an amazing school, send them to Clement Avenue! We still have openings. We were recently awarded Silver-level status in Behavior from the Wisconsin RTI Center. We were also named a Green Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education for 2021.
Sincerely,
Shannon Kilsdonk
Principal, Clement Avenue School
