Green Schools Consortium of Milwaukee’s Schoolyard Redevelopment Projects
Each year, the nonprofit Reflo, with the support of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District and many project partners, works through the Green Schools Consortium of Milwaukee to select and collaborate with schools that are interested in redeveloping their schoolyards. The Schoolyard Redevelopment Process detailed below, is intended to develop meaningful green infrastructure projects at Milwaukee-area schools and to support the growing network of individuals and organizations that promote ecoliteracy and school sustainability initiatives. These projects also provide a multitude of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) curricular connections as well as triple-bottom-line (social, environmental, and economic) benefits for the students, school, and community.
