Bay View Athletics – Completion Checklist
Before you can practice for a team you must be cleared by the Athletic Directors, Ms. Dawes -OR- Mr. Wojcinski
If your child’s sport requires tryouts, her/his fees and checklist items must be turned in by the first day of practice if she/he made the team. Please use the checklist below. The following must be reviewed, completed, and submitted to Room 127:
- Bay View Student-Athlete Handbook Verification. (Once per school year.)
- Waiver and Release of Liability Agreement. (Once per school year.)
- Code of Conduct Agreement. (Once per school year.)
- Parent & Athlete Concussion Agreement, two-sided. (Once per school year.) Parent & Athlete Agreement
- Physical Examination card signed by your doctor. Physicals that were taken after April 1st are good only for TWO SCHOOL YEARS. Physicals taken before April 1st are good for the remainder of that SCHOOL YEAR and the following SCHOOL YEAR. Physical Examination Card
- Authorization for Release of Medical Information, the reverse of the physical card (printable above). (Once per school year.)
- Athletic Permit Card and City-Wide Rules and Regulations, two-sided. (Once per school year.) Athletic Permit Card
- Athletic Emergency Information. (Once per each sport.) Athletic Emergency Information
- Copy of your family health insurance card. (Once per school year. Student-athlete insurance can be purchased at www.studentinsurance-kk.com. Print and submit the proof of coverage.)
- Academic Eligibility: 9th and 10th students are allowed a maximum of one ‘U’ in the previous mark period. 11th and 12th-grade students must also meet a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the previous mark period. Academically ineligible athletes may practice but must recertify to participate in contests.
- An athletic fee of $35.00 and the student will receive an athletic t-shirt. This is per sport and is non-refundable. If your child starts practice for a sport and he/she decides not to play, the athletic fee will not be refunded.
- Any unfinished business must be cleared with the office. This includes all student fees, which must be paid in order to be cleared for practice
- Cash or Money Orders are the only acceptable forms of payment.

Fall Athletics* Indicates a sport in which cuts are made due to popularity. Athletic fee is transferable to another sport.+ Indicates a sport in a cooperative team with Wisconsin Conservatory of Lifelong Learning with Bay View as the lead school. Bay View clears all Bay View athletes.
- Cheerleading: Cheerleaders work hard to keep the spirit alive. Their enthusiasm encourages our athletes and sparks them on to glowing victories and honorable defeats.
- Cross Country (Co-Ed): Running Cross-country is a test of an athlete’s endurance. It involves practice and competition in running distance. The boy’s course covers a distance of 5,000 meters (3.1 miles) and girl’s course covers a distance of 4,000 meters (2.5 miles) in length.
- Football (Co-Ed): There are a freshman, junior varsity and varsity football teams. Practice begins in early August (before school starts) and concludes with the W.I.A.A. playoffs and the State Championships at Camp Randall – University of Wisconsin. The Redcats play in the Milwaukee City Conference and play their home games at South Stadium (Becher & Windlake).
- Soccer (Boys): Teams compete against schools in and around Milwaukee. Skill levels of players range from beginner to advanced. Currently, Bay View only fields a varsity team for the boys.
- Volleyball (Girls): Teams compete against schools in and around Milwaukee. Skill levels of players range from beginner to advanced. Currently, Bay View fields JV and Varsity teams.
Winter Athletics
- Basketball (Boys): Bay View belongs to the W.I.A.A. and participates in the Milwaukee City Conference. The season begins the first week of November and concludes with regional and sectional playoffs, leading to the State Championships at the Kohl Center, the University of Wisconsin in March. - Basketball (Girls): The girl’s program consists of Varsity competition. The Lady Redcats are in the Blue Division of the Milwaukee City Conference and play a 22 game schedule. Girls Basketball Schedule
- Cheerleading: Cheerleaders work hard to keep the spirit alive. Their enthusiasm encourages our athletes and sparks them on to glowing victories and honorable defeats.
- Swimming (Co-Ed): Bay View’s Swim Team is a Co-op sport with Riverside High School being the lead team. The swim team participates in interscholastic meets against Milwaukee and suburban high schools throughout the fall. The best swimmers will compete in the state meet held in November.
- Wrestling (Co-Ed): Wrestling provides a unique opportunity for students of all weights, sizes and body types to compete against an opponent in the same weight class. There are thirteen weight classes from 103 lbs. up to 275 lbs. and above. Both varsity and B-teams compete against other high schools, both within and outside the Metropolitan Milwaukee area. Spring Athletics
- Baseball (Boys): Varsity and junior varsity competition are offered. Fundamentals of the game are stressed. All participants, regardless of skill level, are welcomed. The Schedule can be found here: Baseball Schedule
- Soccer (Girls): The Interscholastic sport of soccer is a fall and spring sport. Teams compete against schools in and around Milwaukee. Skill levels of players range from beginner to advanced. Currently, Bay View only fields a varsity team for the girls season. Come out and catch a game. Their schedule can be found here.
- Softball (Girls): Both varsity and junior varsity levels of competition are offered, featuring a fast-pitch style of play. Beginning, intermediate and advanced strategies are all taught for this spring sport. The Lady Redcats home field is Lewis Field. Their schedule can be found here.
- Track & Field (Co-Ed): Track & Field consists of athletes competing in various events; running (dashes, middle distance, long distance, hurdles, relays) and field (shot put, discus, high jump, pole vault, long/triple jump). The points earned by the team’s individual athletes are total to determine a winning team. Bay View fields varsity and junior varsity competition and competes with other teams in Southeastern Wisconsin. Check out the schedule here.
Special Olympics (Winter & Spring)
Bowling, basketball, and track are offered to students with cognitive disabilities. Students who meet the criteria earn major and minor awards at the end of the season. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are invited to coach Special Olympic athletes in bowling, basketball skills, and track.
