Families

Parent/Guardian participation is our most important partnership and is highly encouraged at Audubon Technology and Communication High School. At Audubon, families are encouraged to support their children’s education by being active participants. Your involvement is critical for your child(ren) to succeed academically and grow emotionally. You can support the Audubon community by:

  • Ensuring that your child arrives to school on time every day (8:05 a.m.);
  • Calling the Audubon office when your child is absent at (414) 902-7800;
  • Ensuring that your child gets the proper amount of sleep every night;
  • Checking your child’s bookbag every day;
  • Reading with your child daily;
  • Assisting your child with homework;
  • Dressing your child appropriately according to the weather;
  • Offering assistance in the classrooms;
  • Attending field trips;
  • Being an active member of the PTO.

Attendance

Attendance is very important at Audubon Technology and Communication High School. Please make sure that your child(ren) are at school, on time, every day. The school day starts at 8:05 a.m. and ends at 3:20 p.m. If your child(ren) will be absent, please make sure to let the office know by calling (414) 902-7800. Thank you for supporting your child(ren)’s attendance at school!

Assist Your Child with Homework

Your child’s teacher will communicate with you about the type of homework that is appropriate for your child. Be sure to provide a quiet time and place for homework.

Help Your Child Improve Their Scores

Programs used in the classroom can be utilized by your child at home to help them improve academically. Have your student login through Clever to find all programs they can access including Smarty Ants, My Path, Discovery Education, Flocabulary, etc.

Discuss Your Child’s Progress with Their Teachers

Attend parent/teacher conferences, or arrange for a special conference with your child’s teacher. If time does not permit, a phone call or a brief note is appreciated.

Families play a vital role in education. Parents are encouraged to work with teachers to decide on an appropriate time to visit their child’s classroom, discuss student progress and share ways to increase learning. Reports are sent home to parents and conferences are scheduled regularly to assess each student’s progress. Staff will honor parental requests for additional conferences, meetings or reports at any time.

Classroom Assistance/Volunteering

Audubon Technology and Communication High School understands the connection between family support and student success; therefore, we are committed to involving families in their child’s education. Parents and guardians are encouraged to come to Audubon and assist teachers in their classrooms. This allows children to combine support from home with support at school, making for positive results.

We have very active parent volunteers. We are always looking for more caring, motivated individuals to work with our students. Please contact our parent coordinator, Nairobys Caraballo, at carabanc@milwaukee.k12.wi.us to learn more about how you can help in the classroom.
